IONIC WATER PURIFIER
" . . . IT'S SIMPLY WONDERFUL . . ."
Please read and follow the instructions - it's cheaper to prevent problems than fix them.

Installation & Operating Instructions
Copper and Silver Ionic Water Purification System
The Ionic water purifier consists of two main parts - a control box and a pair of special rods or electrodes.
The electrodes are normally stored in the lid of the lint filter - just in front of the pool pump.
Where no lint filter is installed, a special flow cell is used.
Installation of the electrodes is achieved in the following manner.

Carefully drill two holes of 8mm to 8.5mm diameter approximately 60mm apart in the lid of the
lint filter.
If the lint pot lid is held in place by a vertical steel post, this must be insulated with a length of suitable tubing. Remove metal handle from lint basket (if fitted).
Should electrodes be angled towards each other due to curvature of the lint pot lid, then the separation distance should not be less than 20mm. Preferably use a flow cell.

The position of the pool pump and the power supply to the pump will determine where the control box may be installed - usually on a vertical surface between the pump and power supply - under suitable cover and out of direct sunlight. If this is impractical, the cable which connects the electrodes to the control box may be extended up to 20 metres using good quality cable. For installation of the control box please see the illustration.

The power supply lead to the control box is fitted with a 'piggy-back' type mains plug. The pool pump and Ionic Water Purifier must be plugged in to the same time clock controlled power point for correct operation. The timer built into the control box is automatically reset to zero each time the pool pump is switched on. The Ionic Water Purifier must not operate unless the pool pump is working.

When first installed in a new pool the conductivity lamp may not be illuminated. The pool water should first be balanced (see Aquabrite System - Pre Treatment) - after which the lamp should be constantly visible. The continuity lamp (red flashing) indicates that the electrodes are connected to the control box and that there is water between them.

The polarity lamps alternate approximately every two minutes and indicate a polarity a polarity reversal has taken place at the electrodes to even the wear and remove deposits.
A test button is provided in case of suspected instrument fault.

To obtain the best results from your Ionic Water Purifier
Do not allow the pH of the water to rise above 7.4.
Do not throw undissolved chemicals into the pool.
Install the control box out of direct sunlight, in a dry position.
Clean out the lint trap and lint pot regularly.
Remove debris from the bottom of the pool (leaves, etc.).
Check the condition of the electrodes every few months.
Check the copper level in the water and adjust the timer if necessary.
Avoid using alum flocculants.
Do not use bromine compounds.
Do not use Soda Ash (pH up) or Sodium Carbonate Peroseyhydrate(percarbonate) with a copper/silver ioniser - as this may lead to discolouration of pool surfaces.

Do not use Chlorine Stabiliser (Pool Conditioner).

Aquamatics Ionic Flow-Cell

NEVER INSTALL THIS SYSTEM BETWEEN THE PUMP AND FILTER

  1. Drill 8.5mm holes in one end-cap in the positions indicated below.
  2. Install the electrodes (see diagram on the reverse side of the pack).
  3. Assemble the flow-cell (as below) align the two end-caps so that the clamp slots are in line or the clamps will not fit properly.
  4. Place a clamp - (the end with a hole in it) - into the clamp slot at the electrode end of the flow-cell, place the clamp on a flat surface and press down so that the clamp 'snaps' into position. Repeat this with the opposite clamp - then the other two (each cell has four clamps).
  5. To remove a clamp put a screw driver through the hole in the clamps and lever off. Do not use excessive force or the clamp may be damaged.
