The fresh water, No Salt, No Chlorine, No Bromine alternative
to Swimming Pool Chlorination.

The Aquabrite System
Typical Installations

This method of swimming pool water purification has been developed in Australia by Aquamatics Pty. Ltd. after several years of laboratory and field tests.

I
n developing the Aquabrite System the company has sought to reduce or eliminate some of the problems associated with traditional methods of water purification treatment.

I
nstead of using Chlorine or Bromine oxidisers the Aquabrite System uses a unique blend of Oxygen rich compounds which activate tiny amounts of silver and copper ions. As a result, eye and skin irritation is effectively eliminated due to the fact that the water has no unpleasant taste or smell and that no toxic or irritating substances are formed.

There is no need to shower after swimming because the Aquabrite System is Fresh Water.
The gentle oxidisers prevent or reduce the incidence of dry skin or hair and the system has proved beneficial to Asthma sufferers.

The Aquabrite System provides a long lasting residual throughout the whole pool to eliminate both algae and bacteria even when the filter pump is not operating. Unlike Chlorine, sunlight and heat have little effect on the chemistry of the system so that the oxidiser lasts days rather than hours.
Stabilisers or pool conditioners are not required.

As well as being inexpensive the Aquabrite System is simple to operate . . . the active components can be measured using a colour comparator test kit in much the same way as Chlorine.
- Operation -
In practice, the Copper and Silver Ions are generated by passing a small current of electricity between two special electrodes. This causes the component metals of the electrodes to become water soluble ions . . . the electrodes can be easily installed in the lid of the hair and lint filter basket on the pump,
. . . or a special flow cell may be placed in the filtration system. The flow of the water through the filtration system carries the ions into the pool where they bond with every drop of water.

When a small quantity of Aquabrite oxidiser is added to the pool these ions are activated to become very powerful disinfectants and algaecides - these activated ions are extremely fast acting and are effective against a broad spectrum of common pool bacteria.
Test results consistently indicate that- the activity is maintained even in contaminated water (which inhibits the action of Chlorine.)
- Limitations -
The Aquabrite System is sensitive to high pH levels (Alkaline) - when using the Aquabrite System, pool pH should not exceed 7.6. Although the system is compatible with Chlorine, Bromine should never be used . . . Silver and Bromine Ions react together to form insoluble Silver Bromide. Water clarifiers containing Alum absorbs both Copper and Silver Ions and cause them to be removed from the pool water.
Baquacil - a SPECTRUM product is not compatible with the Aquabrite System.
ADVANTAGES
 Water Sparkles Like Never before
A Unique blend of oxygen-based oxidisers.
Contains no chlorine or bromine compounds
Keeps pools and spas cleaner . . . longer.
Taste Free - No chemical taste added to the water.
Mild - Ideal for Asthmatics or those with sensitive skin.
Pool conditioner (Cyanuric acid) not required.
Available in 1 kg Sachets for convenient dispensing
       . . .  8
x 1 kg per box - 2 boxes per year (60,000 litres)
- Pre-treatment -
Before using Aquabrite check the pH and total alkalinity of the swimming pool water, adjust the pH to within the range 7.0 to 7.4 and the total alkalinity should be higher than 80 parts per million but less than 120 parts per million.
To increase the total alkalinity add sodium bicarbonate (pH Buffer). 1 Kg. will increase the total alkalinity by 10 parts per million in the average 10 metre swimming pool (50,000L).
Add all chemicals slowly to the skimmer while the filtration system is operating, good pool housekeeping
is essential - keep leaf and lint filters free of leaves and rubbish.
- Pools -
50,000 to 60,000 Litres
Add one sachet of Aquabrite slowly to the skimmer - after approximately one hour (with the filter running) measure the concentration using a DPD test kit.

1. Fill the small vial with pool water to the mark - as though testing for Chlorine.
2. Add a DPD No.1 tablet and wait exactly 15 minutes.
3. The red colour produced should compare to above the 3ppm colour on the Chlorine scale.
4. Do the DPD test about once a week initially - when the level drops to 2 parts/million on the "Chlorine" scale add another sachet of Aquabrite . . . check the total alkalinity and add Sodium Bicarbonate to maintain a level at or above 80 parts/million.
- Spas -
Initially add 50g of Aquabrite per 1000L of spa water - operate the Ionic Water Purifier to maintain a reading above 0.6 on the colour comparator card.
Excessive concentrations of Aquabrite may cause the red colour of the DPD tablet solution to bleach colourless and thus give false indication that there is insufficient Aquabrite present.

NOTE:
Maintain correct Spa water chemistry to ensure there is no acid build up in the Spa, which may damage the heater.
Aquabrite alone is not sufficient to disinfect water - it compliments the action of the Ionic Water Purifier.
Never use Bromine compounds with the
Aquabrite System
As with all pool chemicals - always handle with care.
Do not mix with other chemicals
Keep in a cool, dry place - away from Children and Pets.
